Migrated Bluestem’s e-commerce platform to new versions of RedHat Linux and Tomcat, implementing a completely configuration-managed environment. Implemented and managed Bluestem’s GitHub Enterprise installation. Developed an intelligent API router for distribution of internal API endpoints across multiple server farms. Automated the provisioning of all new Linux servers; highlights include a 5-minute spin-up time, full configuration management, and automatic DNS management. Automated deployment of app server code for Bluestem’s e-commerce sites; all manual processes were completely eliminated, and code cannot be deployed in a manner that negatively affects customers.

Administered hardware and OS for MFGPro ERP environment; migrated MFGPro environment from Power3-era IBM hardware to HP Blades running Linux. Administered HP SIM installation to reduce hardware-related outages. Administered Nimsoft Nimbus NMS; responsible for system outage notifications for all GBU-specific computing infrastructure. Administered all GBU-specific Windows servers (comprised of a mix of 2003, 2008, 2008 R2, and 2012). Administered GBU VMWare ESX infrastructure, which hosts 90% of all GBU computing infrastructure. Installed, configured, and administered the Covidien-wide MobileIron environment for iOS device management; 15,200 iOS devices under management. Developed code-signing infrastructure for in-house iOS apps developed by third-party developers, enabling app distribution to field staff. Deployed a continuous-integration and build server for in-house Objective-C development. Developed and deployed three in-house iPad apps, and two in-house iPhone apps. Administered 300 servers whose functions range from file services to enterprise authentication. Supervised a team of three; oversaw the day-to-day operation and support for 3,500 end-user computers on the 250-site corporate WAN; 219 time clocks; and the use of LANDesk for systems management and patching. Virtualized 39 servers, simultaneously providing for disaster recovery and retiring 39 pieces of legacy hardware. Managed, to completion, the in-field replacement of 205 servers. Managed, to completion, the in-field replacement of 3,500 client computers; automated the setup process to allow deployment with zero user interaction. Implemented disaster recovery plans for 5 applications and 25 servers. Implemented access controls on our Macintosh environment via the corporate LDAP directory as well as systems management software for the clients.

Responsible for all Active Directory and Exchange Server administration. Duties included GPO creation, replication scheme setup and maintenance, and disaster recovery planning. Wrote a custom printer driver, which allowed database and financial reports to be printed directly to PDF and realizing a savings of 300,000 printed pages per calendar year. Migrated HP-UX hardware, software, and database systems to updated versions of each, achieving the mandated zero-downtime project goal. Managed IT helpdesk; responsible for end-user support in a Windows XP environment. Administered the day-to-day operations of both Unix and Windows servers. Served as Webmaster for Corporate Intranet.
