Migrated Bluestem’s e-commerce platform to current releases of Red Hat Linux and Tomcat within a fully configuration-managed environment. Stood up and administered the company’s GitHub Enterprise installation. Built an intelligent API router that distributed internal API endpoints across multiple server farms. Automated provisioning of all new Linux servers, achieving 5-minute spin-up with full configuration management and automatic DNS registration. Automated application code deployment for Bluestem’s e-commerce sites, eliminating every manual step and making it impossible to deploy in a way that negatively affects customers.

Administered the hardware and operating systems for the MFGPro ERP environment, migrating it from Power3-era IBM hardware to Linux on HP blades. Deployed HP SIM to reduce hardware-related outages and administered Nimsoft NimBUS for outage notification across all GBU-specific computing infrastructure. Managed every GBU-specific Windows server (a mix of 2003, 2008, 2008 R2, and 2012) and the VMware ESX infrastructure hosting 90% of GBU computing. Installed, configured, and administered the Covidien-wide MobileIron environment for iOS device management, with 15,200 devices under management. Built code-signing infrastructure for in-house iOS apps developed by third-party developers, enabling distribution to field staff, and deployed a continuous-integration build server for in-house Objective-C development. Developed and deployed three in-house iPad apps and two iPhone apps, and owned all Citrix XenApp administration in the VT GBU.

Administered 300 servers spanning functions from file services to enterprise authentication. Supervised a team of three and oversaw day-to-day operation and support of 3,500 end-user computers across a 250-site corporate WAN, 219 time clocks, and LANDesk for systems management and patching. Virtualized 39 servers, simultaneously enabling disaster recovery and retiring 39 pieces of legacy hardware. Managed to completion the in-field replacement of 205 servers and of 3,500 client computers, automating client setup for zero-touch deployment. Implemented disaster recovery plans covering 5 applications and 25 servers, and enforced access controls on the Macintosh environment through the corporate LDAP directory and client systems-management software.
